Gigabye: Photo Cleaner · Last updated: 23 October 2026
1. Who we are
Gigabye: Photo Cleaner ("Gigabye", "the app") is provided by NEMESIDA SMART DATA LTD, a company registered in Cyprus under number HE 465547, with its registered office at Theofilou Georgiadi 3E, Agios Athanasios, 4103 Limassol, Cyprus ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described in this Privacy Policy.
Privacy questions and requests: privacy@gigabye.app. General support: support@gigabye.app.
This Privacy Policy applies to the Gigabye iOS app and to the website gigabye.app.
2. Summary
- Your photos and videos are analyzed only on your iPhone. They are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
- We do not require an account and do not ask for your name, email address or phone number to use the app.
- We do not sell your personal data and do not show third-party ads. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We process a limited amount of pseudonymous data to run subscriptions (through Apple and RevenueCat), to understand how the app is used (through TelemetryDeck) and to measure Apple Ads campaigns.
3. Your photos and videos
Gigabye needs access to your photo library to find duplicates, similar shots, screenshots, large videos and other items you may want to remove. You choose the level of access in iOS and can change it at any time in Settings → Apps → Gigabye → Photos.
- On-device processing. All analysis (image comparison, sharpness, text recognition used to avoid false matches, file sizes) runs locally on your device with Apple's frameworks. Photos, videos, their contents, file names and location metadata are never sent to us or to our service providers.
- Local cache. To avoid rescanning, the app stores technical analysis results (such as image fingerprints and file sizes) in its private storage on your device. This cache is deleted when you delete the app or use "Rescan Library" in the app's Settings.
- Deletion. Items are deleted only after you confirm in the iOS system dialog. Deleted items move to Recently Deleted in the Photos app, where they stay for 30 days and can be restored.
- Compression and conversion. When you compress a video or convert a Live Photo, the app creates a new copy on your device, keeps its date, location and favorite status, and deletes the original only after your confirmation.
- iCloud Photos. If you use iCloud Photos, changes you make are synchronized by Apple across your devices. This synchronization is handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy terms.
4. Data we process
Apart from the on-device processing described above, we process only the data in the table below. None of it includes your photos, videos or file names.
| Category | What exactly | Who processes it | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Purchases and subscriptions | Subscription status, product, price, currency, country or region, purchase and renewal dates, App Store transaction identifiers, a random app user ID generated by the RevenueCat SDK | Apple (payments), RevenueCat, Inc. | To unlock Gigabye Pro, restore purchases on your devices, handle trials and renewals, and report revenue |
| Anonymous usage analytics | App events such as onboarding steps, the answer to the photo access request, scan completion with amounts rounded to 0.5 GB, paywall views, selected plan, trial start, cleanup, compression and swipe actions; app version, iOS version, device model, language and region; a one-way hashed identifier used only to count unique devices | TelemetryDeck GmbH | To understand which features are used and where the app can be improved |
| Apple Ads attribution | An attribution token from Apple's AdServices framework and the campaign information Apple returns for it (for example, campaign, ad group and keyword) | Apple, RevenueCat, Inc. | To measure whether our Apple Ads campaigns lead to installs and subscriptions |
| Support requests | Your email address, the content of your message and anything you choose to attach | Our email service provider | To answer your request |
| Crash reports | Technical crash logs, only if you allowed sharing with app developers in iOS (Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements) | Apple | To find and fix bugs |
- No tracking. We do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and do not link the data above with data from other companies for advertising. Apple Ads attribution through AdServices is not tracking under Apple's rules.
- Turning off analytics. You can turn off anonymous usage analytics at any time in the app: Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous analytics.
- Notifications. Weekly reminders are created and scheduled on your device. We do not use a push notification server and do not receive any data about them.
4.1 Advertising attribution
The current version of Gigabye does not track you across other companies' apps or websites and does not ask for tracking permission. Apple Ads campaigns are measured only through Apple's AdServices framework, as described above. If we add advertising attribution in a future version, the app will ask for your permission in the iOS system dialog before any such data is collected, and we will update this Privacy Policy first.
5. Legal bases
We rely on the following legal bases under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — to provide the app and Gigabye Pro, process subscriptions and restore purchases.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — to improve the app with anonymous usage analytics, measure our Apple Ads campaigns, keep the app secure and answer support requests. You can object at any time, including by turning off analytics in the app.
- Legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)) — to keep transaction records required by tax and accounting laws.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for any advertising attribution we may add in a future version (section 4.1), only after you allow it.
Photo library access is granted through the iOS permission system and the photos themselves never leave your device.
6. Service providers and international transfers
We share data only with the providers below and only for the purposes in section 4. We do not sell or rent personal data.
- Apple Inc. and its affiliates — App Store distribution, payments, Apple Ads attribution and crash reports. Apple acts under its own privacy policy for payments and your Apple Account.
- RevenueCat, Inc. (United States) — subscription management, acting on our behalf.
- TelemetryDeck GmbH (Germany) — anonymous usage analytics, acting on our behalf.
- Our email service provider — delivery and storage of support emails, acting on our behalf.
We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights, or to a successor if our business is transferred.
Some providers process data outside the European Economic Area, in particular in the United States. In that case we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism, such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified under it.
7. How long we keep data
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| On-device analysis cache | Until you delete the app or reset the cache in the app's Settings |
| Purchase and subscription records | For as long as your subscription is active and afterwards for the period required by tax and accounting laws |
| Anonymous usage analytics | Up to 24 months, then deleted or kept only in aggregated form |
| Apple Ads campaign data (from AdServices) | For as long as the related purchase records are kept |
| Support emails | Up to 24 months after your request is resolved |
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access your personal data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, write to privacy@gigabye.app. We will answer within one month.
Because the app does not use accounts and the data we process is pseudonymous, we may not be able to identify you from your request alone. In that case we may ask for information that helps locate your data, such as the date of a purchase or your App Store order ID.
- Subscriptions and refunds are managed by Apple: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, and reportaproblem.apple.com for refunds.
- Analytics can be turned off in the app at any time.
- Tracking permission. If a future version asks for tracking permission, you can withdraw it at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Complaints. You can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection in Cyprus (dataprotection.gov.cy) or with the data protection authority in your country.
9. Other information
- Children. Gigabye is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly process their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
- Security. Data is transmitted to our providers over encrypted connections. Access to it is limited to what is needed to run the app and our business.
- U.S. residents. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as these terms are defined in U.S. state privacy laws. You may exercise the rights available under your state's law by writing to us.
- Changes. We may update this Privacy Policy. We will publish the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date and, for material changes, inform you in the app.
